Ice House

We completely renovated the historic Ice House in Blowing Rock. VPC Builders gutted whole building down to the studs, added spray foam insulation, replaced rotten framing, added epoxy paint to floors, installed new high efficiency fixed windows, fixed holes and completely repaired the roof and installed metal roofing with new gutters and downspouts, converted one bathroom into closet and the other into a handicap accessible bathroom, replaced doors, installed a mini-split HVAC unit, and completely restored the basement into a sealed space, with insulation and plastic vaper barrier.

The Ice House was built sometime in the 1920’s. It was originally where ice from Chetola Lake was stored and sold, but has also been a service station, home of The Blowing Rocket, a TV repair shop and the ticket office of the Blowing Rock Stage Company.
